DARLENE PART II

This session was supposed to be a golden hour shoot, but the weather had other ideas for us. It was an extremely gloomy over cast day, and the lighting coming into the studio was less than golden. But I knew what I wanted for the look, and I didn't want to disappoint my client, so we improvised!
Being limited by your surroundings and environment is incredibly discouraging as an artist, and sometimes out of our control. But if you're not putting in the effort to learn lighting, then you are putting an extra limitation on yourself that is completely unnecessary! I have spent a lot of time over the past years playing with the effects of lighting and how to manipulate it to create the feel I want. It's all about experimenting and trying something new! This little effect was something I threw together in 5 minutes and the results were beyond my expectations. I don't believe in failure when it comes to art, even if something doesn't work out how it should in your head, it's a lesson learned and the next go will be better! Try, try, try! And never stop learning!
